Jasmine does extremely well with obedience and also enjoys agility (on her own terms). She is never 100% predictable and will rearrange the course if she thinks she can get away with it. She is reliable off leash with Terry but develops selective hearing for the other members of the family who have tried it. She took Reserve WB with competition at her first and only show weekend in Ontario Canada at the age of two. This was in spite of her very obvious reluctance to stand still and participate.
Jasmine is the genius escape artist of our crew. She can and will open doors, gates, latches, clips, knots and any other mechanism that you would think requires opposable thumbs to operate. Jasmine can work them all and we had to resort to a chain and padlock on any enclosure or crate we want to keep her in. Recently she found she could remove the entire gate simply by working on it until the hinges loosened and she could lift and drop the gate off the hinge. She is also known for popping clips off the bottom of the fence frame and peeling back the chain link to walk out.
Rather than running away when she gets loose Jasmine will either break into other enclosures to play with the other dogs and/or let them out or she will come sit on the deck and peer through the door wall like a peeping Tom until someone notices her. She is one of the most intelligent dogs we have ever known. We're still hoping that one day she will decide to use that genius mind for good instead of evil.
